Runes Of Magic
Since GW is dying and GW2 is nowhere in sight, just thought I’d let you know there’s a new game out. Currently in it’s open beta stage 'Runes of Magic' (and it is by far the greatest f2p game I’ve played) opened to the public just a week ago.
A few of the game features
~Auction House
~Dual Class system
~Mounts
~Persistent world with persistent/instanced dungeons.
What the game has done is taken the best aspects of a number of successful MMO’s such as GW WOW etc.
I recommend you to check it out and there is no character wipe when open beta finishes so you’d have an advantage on launch date xD.
The client is FREE to download and FREE to play, has regular patches from devs expansions every 3 months ALL FREE.
Forum is on the site with regular feedback from the community dev xD.
You have NOTHING to lose from at least trying the game out (well except time).

~Happy Holidays

Too bad client download sucks. A lot of waiting, usually is divided into 5 parts and downloading those 3GB would take few hours...

Thanks for the link.
Going to try the game as soon as it downloads. Although I won't get my hopes up because of the item shop.

I downloaded the other day, but haven't run it yet. With something as basic as re-spec costing money, guess I won't bother.
GW has spoiled us all. If we pay to play (subscription) we expect perfect game; if game says free to play, we expect really free.

I heard to be competitive in GW you have to buy the expansion packs whenever they come out. That's not free.

No you dont.
To be competitive in GW, you need to be able to rant.
Merry Christmas to all.

First impressions of the game:
Without buying more, inventory space is a bit limited. Easy to get used to, but annoying.
Droprates are good...probably 50% drop something, even if its crappy.
So far, leveling seems decent rate (currently 17/11)
Knights seem sort of gimped on skills, but an update will surely come soonish.
No class seems too overpowered.
The item shop doesnt seem to provide an advantage to combat in the game. Iv seen too many microtransaction games that give cash-shop items a FtP player cant get.
Lots of quests. Lots.
And probaby some other stuff.

To the sceptics of the item shop, it's to support the costs of the servers/wages etc you CANT expect these people to be running the game for free =S.
And the game is FREE to play AND download so they do stick to their word, still the best f2p MMO out there I’ve yet to see one come close.

Decided to download this but I have three questions.
1) Are there any hybrid class builds similar to the Ritualist and Paragon professions of GW?
2) Do people really use tanks in this game? After playing GW for so long, the idea of a tank just seems so foreign.
3) Is there a database or listing of skills and/or equips?

Might try it because I have nothing else currently to play. The graphics looks decent but as for the gameplay...well lets just say it'll be a quick play that might not last the week. But hey at least it'll keep me from being bored!

1. At the moment there are only the following classes, Priest, Rogue, Warrior, Knight, Mage, and Scout. However 2 new classes will be introduced at the official launch (it's speculated that the classes are both hybrid builds but it is uncertain).
2. Yes tanks (knights) are very important in the game and are essential in coordinated group efforts.
3. You have all the possible skills of your primary class and secondary class listed in the skills tab (which you can key bind) makes it useful for planning out builds in advance.

I've been playing for nearly a week now, and I love it. There is a lot of depth to the game, with item crafting, item sets, professions, and harvesting. There are so very many quests, even though inevitably some are the "bring me 10 cat teeth" type quests. I've found the ingame community to be very helpful and friendly, especially some of the more experienced people. I really enjoy the versatility of the class system, as you can completely swap your primary and secondary.
On the other side, I hate leveling my other class, and I find it annoying to keep two alternate armor/weapon sets on me/in my house to fit either class. It's buggy as hell, but it is beta, so I look forward to the finished product.
All in all, definitely a quality product considering that it's free.
